Meet Barbara Biddle

My name is Barbara Biddle and I live in Virginia where I own and operate two of three District Hemp locations (the third one is in DC). I am the daughter of a Ghanaian immigrant who came to the U.S. to seek a better life and to have a chance at the “American Dream.”

Growing up in Virginia I had a front row seat to view the impact of the terrible opioid epidemic that ravaged a generation of students at my high school. Having lost over a dozen close friends and classmates to overdoses, seeing the impact cannabis can have on those battling addiction has been a huge factor in my passion for the plant.

“It didn’t take long for me to notice that CBD helped ease my anxiety and made me able to go about my day and be a better, happier mom.”

My interest in cannabis only heightened after the birth of my first son. I battled debilitating postpartum depression until one day, a friend gave me a CBD sample to try. It didn’t take long for me to notice that CBD helped ease my anxiety and made me able to go about my day.

Along with an appreciation of the medical benefits of cannabis, I am also an avid enthusiast. I love consuming cannabis and the rituals that go with different consumption methods.

I’m really excited to be one of the judges for the first-ever National Cannabis Championship. I can’t wait to explore the entries. I love the varying terpene profiles unique to cannabis and I’m absolutely excited to experience the best that Virginia has to offer!

“For folks looking to get into home cultivation I recommend getting a mentor and not being afraid of a little trial and error…”

For folks looking to get into home cultivation I recommend getting a mentor and not being afraid of a little trial and error. A few of my local cannabis heroes include: Sebastian Echeverri, DC Scroger and Manny Pac.

You can visit Barbara at one of District Hemp’s three locations in DC, Manassas or Leesburg.
