Colby Freiseis Talks Natural Farming Methods
My name is Colby Freiseis. I grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Growing up on a farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia I was surrounded by nature and hard working family. Today this influences my dedication to being a good steward to my environment and practicing Natural Farming methods.
I’m a multigenerational farmer. I’m also an Advisory Board Member of the Virginia Hemp Coalition as well as being a certified Natural Farmer specializing in Korean Natural Farming and regenerative agriculture practices. I love cannabis cultivation and feeling rewarded as I watch my plants progress. I always learn something new with each season.
“I consider myself a Sativa and land race connoisseur. Right now, my favorite strain is Banana Mango.”
Currently I live in Bowling Green, Virginia where I work with my husband’s family farm and market garden. I’m a proud mother, wife and farmer, and even recently won first place in Virginia’s Large fowl egg competition (2021). I consider myself a Sativa and land race connoisseur. Right now, my favorite strain is Banana Mango.
“…never be afraid to ask questions and do your own research - the cannabis community is full of ever growing knowledge and everyone has to start somewhere.”
One of my cannabis heroes is Wendy Kornberg, a Humboldt legacy regenerative cannabis farmer. She’s a great teacher and I value how much time she spends doing studies of her own and answering questions in forums. Through Wendy and other great teachers, I learned to never be afraid to ask questions and do your own research - the cannabis community is full of ever growing knowledge and everyone has to start somewhere.
I’m incredibly excited about being a Judge for the National Cannabis Championship. I’m looking forward to experiencing the variety that entrants from Virginia and Washington, D.C., will bring to the competition.
