CANNABIS LEGALIZATION IN THE AGE OF MASS INCARCERATION
Hosted by Loyalty Bookstore
A special book reading and discussion with author and activist Tony Lewis, Jr.
At nine years old Tony Lewis Jr.'s life took a dramatic turn after his father, a D.C. drug “kingpin,” was arrested and given a life sentence. It was 1989 and Washington D.C. stood as the murder capital of the country. Lewis went from a life of stability to one of chaos and poverty. Now Washington, D.C. is riding high on a wave of gentrification and ever lenient cannabis laws. Join National Cannabis Festival and Loyalty Bookstore for a book reading and discussion about cannabis legalization in Washington, D.C., and the city's troubling past of mass incarceration.

MORMOR IN CONCERT
Hosted by Songbyrd Music House & Record Cafe
You can hear Nyquist’s poise in the tidy psych-pop he makes as MorMor. Songs like “Heaven’s Only Wishful” and “Whatever Comes to Mind” are spacious and sturdy, leaning on Nyquist’s piercing falsetto and his ear for unorthodox chord progressions. He writes, plays, and produces almost everything you hear on his tracks, and his music feels appropriately solitary—not lonely, but isolated, like it’s coming from someone who’s spent a lot of time exploring every nook and cranny of his imagination.
Doors at 7pm. Show at 8pm
